Edit plain text

For getting to the editing view you have two options: double click on its row or, in the Actions menu, choose Edit. When done, you will see that there are some options available that we can perform. Let's explain them:

ActionDescription

DownloadAs the words say, it lets you download your doc as a txt file
Publish/DraftBy default, when a content is created, the status is DRAFT, but it can be changed to PUBLISHED by clicking on the switcher that is shown above

The main content has two panels: the left one is the preview and the right one the real editor. In the left part you can see what is the result of the changes you make in the editor and set a general condition for the entire doc. The editor part has

On the left panel, we can see a set of clickable elements and, on the right one, a list of settings that vary depending on the attributes that were added to those elements in the template.

By default, if there is no element from the left panel selected, we can edit the layer properties:

  • Clone block: this adds another layer to the content. If you want to do so, you must apply first a condition to the main layer.
  • Condition: the condition to apply to the layer.

Otherwise, if there is an element from the left panel selected, we can edit its properties if it contains the attribute ATTR-CANEDIT="yes". Please refer to this link for more information.

Incompatibility with browser extensions

Some browser extensions prevent you from saving or updating the content. When you're running into issues with saving or updating the plain texts please check if any browser extensions are enabled. So far Selenium IDE has been reported as blocking users from saving or updating plain texts.
